In the book Where The Crawdads Sing The story follows a young girl named Kya. Kya lives in the marsh with her parents and a handful of siblings. As the story progresses we learned that her dad is abusive and eventually her mom leaves. She lives behind her and all of her siblings then eventually one by one all of her siblings leave too. Leaving her with her abusive dad Who also eventually leaves, Kya learns to take care of herself from a young age. As she grows up she ends up falling for two men in town. Tate and Chase. Tate A country gentleman who ends up breaking her heart and leaving for college. Then Chase A spoiled asshole who ends up taking her virginity and cheating on her with his fiancé. Tate eventually comes back to town years later trying to win her back but she has a new set of issues. Kya has now been convicted of killing Chase when he is found dead after their messy abusive break up. Kya goes to trial and ends up winning the case and being found not guilty. Eventually she gets back with Tate and dies from old age. At the end of the book we learned that Kya indeed a dead kill Chase and no one ever finds out. This book was very good to me. I was not feeling the parts where this young girl had to grow up and fend for herself. Especially having a daughter the same age as her I didn’t really like that. However I do love that she set up for herself and she beat the case and finally got to do is live a peaceful life she deserved. There’s so many more parts of this book that I didn’t put in the review because you guys know we only do a paragraph here. But I would definitely recommend the book and I would recommend watching the movie as well that differs a little bit from the book but it’s great to put a face with a name.
