Rainy days call for warm, cozy meals & a place the Rainy days call for warm, cozy meals & a place the whole family can enjoy. We spent our Wednesday night at @bluehousekoreanbbq in Roseville & it was exactly what we needed. The girls were so into cooking at the table themselves, & it made dinner feel like a fun little experience instead of just eating out.

We ordered Korean fried chicken, kimchi fried rice, & the Black Angus steak (highly recommend). And if you have picky eaters or adventurous ones, they’ve got plenty of options pork, chicken, seafood, + more.

And the best part for my parents out there…
Kids eat FREE on Wednesdays.

Disneyland: our first trip after Covid.

July 16, 2021      Porsha Carr

Get ready! Place’s people places! Cue the music! Insert the adorable dancing dolls. *It’s a small world music starts playing*. Can you guess where this is going? Well if you haven’t figured it out by the title this is definitely a Disneyland post. I’m not sure about you but whenever I think Disneyland I automatically hear It’s A Small World melody. But enough of that your hear to read about our trip right? Boy oh boy let me tell you what a Disney trip this was!

Disney Day 1

We arrived at LAX nice and early 10:30 am to be exact. We grabbed our bags and jumped in our Lyft. We were staying at our favorite hotel Howard Johnson Anaheim. Each time we go to Disneyland we have stayed here. We love that the hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the park and the guest service is amazing. This time we stayed we actually had the pleasure of staying in the newly renovated buildings next to the pool. It was such a wonderful view of the pool and the park we really got lucky. We love it there! (Check em out here)

So once we got to our hotel I got a little bit sick. At the time I was almost 10 weeks pregnant and was right at the peak of my morning sickness. I knew that this trip might be a little hard for me but we have been planing for so long and wanted to kick the girls summer off right so I decided to suck it up and try to have a good time. We headed down to the water playground where the girls immersed themselves in water and played for about an hour and a half. Before we knew it, it was time to meet some of our best friends at downtown Disney for dinner.

We got changed and headed to dinner with the Martinez family. For years I have been talking to Karen over the phone and FaceTime and we had never met. I was so excited to finally be able to meet her and her beautiful family. The girls were so excited to finally be able to meet her little friends as well. Oh and our husbands were just happy to be there being Disney husbands ha. We had dinner and let the kids play and run around we went shopping. Plus had tons of ice cream it was just such a great time. I am so thankful for them meeting us and kicking off our trip right! Can’t wait to see them again! Back at our hotel it was time to get some rest for the next day we would hit Disneyland.

Disney Day 2. Disneyland

Disneyland it was not crowded. The very first thing we noticed when we walked up was very minimal lines. We did not bring a stroller for this trip it was actually our first time without a stroller so we decided to rent a double at the gate. I would not suggest this I would suggest bringing your own stroller mainly because the Disney strollers are very tiny and there is absolutely no storage space underneath. It was a struggle whenever we went shopping or had leftover food or wanted to place a stuffed animal somewhere we had no space. Inside the park of the first person we spotted was Minnie Mouse and she was behind a rope. The character experience during this trip was very different because of Covid. All of the characters of course were behind ropes social distancing. It was a little harder to take photos but nonetheless the girls still loved it. My husband loved not having to wait in line for a picture with a character too. We walked on Main Street and it was magical glory. We were home again! The first place we hit up was Jolly Holiday Bakery Café where we loaded up on a bunch of treats and lunch items. I was still fighting nausea so during the whole trip I just kind of nibbled on things I never really fully got to eat anything. I know boo hoo! The places we ate at included:

-Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe

-Bengal Barbecue

-Pretzel Cart

-Tiki Juice Bar

-Red Rose Tavern

-Starbucks

-Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen

We headed through the park taking a ton of pictures as we went. I did a lot of resting in between the three of them going on rides. I did not get on many rides but the rides I did get on include:

– Alice in Wonderland

-Casey Junior circus train

-Disneyland railroad

-Haunted Mansion

-It’s a small world

-Mark Twain riverboat

-Snow Whites enchanted wish

Ask for my family they pretty much got on everything you can imagine. The lines were very short and the lines that were longer did not take very long to get through. We spent a lot of time walking through Star Wars land. Dayjhan was luckily enough to get a spot in the cue for the Rise of the resistance ride. But by the time it was his turn we were already in Adventure land. We decided not to go back to Star Wars land because it wasn’t worth the walk plus we had already rode that before when we went to Walt Disney World last year. He was able to get into the cue at 12:00 pm but wasn’t his turn until around 5:30 pm. Between stopping for more food and shopping for the girls we spent some time in Toon Town which actually had some construction going on but everything was still open and the characters were still out. Ivy was so excited to see Minnie mouse at her house and show her, her matching ears. Once our Toon Town adventure was over We decided to ride Disneyland railroad and then head back to our room for the day. Typically we like to stay until the park closes but this time we only made it to an hour before close on both days actually which is okay with this prego.

Disney Day 3. California Adventures

So we made it to our third and final day of our Disney trip. That day we decided not to sleep in like the previous day because we knew this park would be crowded. I’m sure by now you’ve totally heard of Avengers Camp. Dayjhan could not wait to go! We got up nice and early got in the queue and headed straight to the park right into the camp. The wait was not long at all but the park was filled with people. The three of them immediately jumped on Web slinger‘s while I got in line for breakfast and lunch. We had lunch at PYM Test Kitchen and ordered about $80 worth of food. I can honestly say the bulk of our Disney budget was definitely spent on food and toys. We did save money by bringing our own waters. The food at the kitchen was actually pretty good I was able to eat the impossible pasta which was amazing! I hadn’t  been able to eat much before. I was really excited.

Everything else was pretty okay but nobody really liked the Caesar salad and we didn’t finish the Choco smash. But all in all I would definitely eat there again. We did catch a show on the rooftop there, was able to see Spiderman climb from the top of the building and the girls also got to meet Black Panther which is like their hero. The camp was fun but it is really small so we didn’t spend more than an hour and a half there.

Once we left the camp Dayjhan and Aria hit up a water ride. Aria was pissed because she did not know she was going to get soaked which is why Ivy opted out last minute. We also rode Under The Sea twice it was super relaxing to just be able to sit there in the AC and ride as a family. The three of them rode a ton of things at DCA but what stood out the most was our Ivy getting on the Incredicoaster. Only 7 years old she was so unbelievably brave and she went on with Dayjhan. She felt fearless afterwards. It was so cool to watch! You go girl!

Per usual my family ate their way through the park stopping at places like Bing bongs sweet stuff and Flos. Being at DCA was way hotter than being at Disney. It wasn’t super hot but we did carry a portable fan that my friend Maria let us borrow. Seeing as how we had finished everything we decided it was time to head back to the hotel and call our last day of Disney a night.

Our Disneyland trip was so much fun it wasn’t a ton of fun for me being sick but my girls had the most fun and that’s all that matters. I will tell you this though I do not plan on going back to Disney in early pregnancy. But I am definitely glad I had the experience. We also went a few days after they had lifted the social distancing and mask restrictions so it was a little bit weird. There were times where we did take our mask off and we felt comfortable. All in all it was a great trip and I can’t wait to go back!

Until next time Disney!
