The end of December.

January 12, 2021      Porsha Carr

Happy 2021!!!

Hi friends, how are you? here we are! 2021. I am so excited to be able to be here with you all and I am even more excited to share with you all of the fun stuff in my post today. December was a super wild month. Between finishing up my last few collaborations, getting ready for Christmas, and a bunch of family birthdays it was such a busy month I didn’t have the chance to blog about my last few days of December. Until now.

December came and went in what seemed like the blink of an eye. I remember changing my calendars to December and thinking “wow I can’t believe it’s December.” Now here we are January, I can’t believe it’s January. The end of my year was actually pretty amazing. 2020 was a wild one, so to end the year on a good note meant everything to me. Let’s take it back to Christmas.

Christmas Day

The morning of December 25 was pretty tiring. The night before on Christmas eve we headed to mid-town to look at Christmas lights, it’s a tradition, and then once home the girls stayed up a little past midnight. Of course to excited to go to bed because of Christmas. But once they fell asleep, Dayjhan, myself, and my mother in law stayed up helping Santa get a jump start on Christmas. The toys put out, the Frozen dollhouse all built, the giant ride-on unicorn put together, and finally, it was time for bed around 3:00 am.

On Christmas morning I woke up about 45 minutes before the girls. I sat in front of the fireplace, just taking everything in enjoying the moment. When the girls were up they dashed into the living room. Super excited they saw their toys on the couch and floor. But they were immediately drawn to their Frozen dollhouse. They loved how tall it was and that it came with singing Barbies. Once they managed to pull themselves away from their dollhouse they began ripping open anything that had their names on it. It’s always such a special moment on Christmas morning to watch your little ones do that.

Later on, we headed to my mom’s house for the biggest surprise ever! For almost 6 months my brother, myself, and my dad had been planning to buy my mom her dream car. For as long as I can remember my mom had always wanted an H2 (Hummer). That truck was huge but she didn’t care it was her dream car. So with planning, saving, and trying to keep our lips closed from spilling the beans Christmas was here and we were finally able to surprise my mom. We gathered all of our family in the living room as if we were taking a photo. My brother handed my mom a white box filled with tissue paper. Inside the box, a little note that said “dreams do come true” was written. When she finally got through the tissue paper it was a toy, Hummer. She giggled and everyone laughed. Until she realized there was something even better than a toy outside. She flew out the front door and covered her face she couldn’t believe it. As well as the rest of my family because like I said we had kept it a secret from everyone. My brother and I embraced my mom with a few tears as she sat in the driver’s seat of her car. It was the most beautiful, emotional Christmas I’ve ever had in my life.. I think all 3 of us had ever had. It’s been about three weeks since Christmas and my mom still randomly texts me thank you’s. We worked so hard to buy that car for her, it was honestly the best moment ever. I’m still very much on cloud 9. There is no one more deserving or worthy than my mom. I love you mom!

New Years Eve

After Christmas passed and Dayjhan’s birthday (where we didn’t really do anything but eat ice cream cake because hello Covid). It was New Year Eve. To be honest I have always dreaded this Holiday. I never really been much of a huge party person and I kinda always doze off before midnight. So safe to say this has never been my favorite holiday. But in recent years my family and I have developed sort of a tradition. A tradition in which we get a massive amount of junk food, crazy party hats, and watch the countdown on Youtube. Along with our polaroid camera to take lots of fun photos. This year I even had my nieces spend the night with us. Having little ones ages 4 and 6 is already an adventure. But adding a 2 and 5-year-old to the mix was a ton of fun. We ate, we played, we watched movies and ate some more. 5..4..3..2..1 happy new year! We welcomed 2021 with sparkling apple cider, cheering, and a ton of hope for this new year ahead.

New Years Day

An unplanned trip to my favorite city, the city of San Francisco was in the books for New Years Day. Though the trip was rainy, cold, and kid-free it was nice. We enjoyed visiting the Palace Of Fine Arts in San Francisco. It was beautiful and the architecture was amazing. It was nice to come home the next day and get some rest as well still kid-free because those last few days of December were so busy. I didn’t even tell you guys about the snow. I will post that blog a little later because I have a ton of photos.

Well, 2021 we are welcoming you with open arms and hearts. but I found a funny quote on Instagram going around that I think would describe this year best.

“Nobody claim 2021 as “your year”, ok? We’re all going to walk in real sloe. Be quite. Be good. Don’t. Touch. Anything.”

Hello, 2021.
