How long has your family been quarantined? How long has it been since you guys have got to go on an adventure together? I’m talking heart racing, palms sweating, high endurance, memory-making family adventure? Well, today is your lucky day because the adventure starts right here with Quarry Park Adventures!
Quarry Park Adventures is the nation’s only outdoor adventure park built within a former rock quarry. Yes! A one of a kind experience for your entire family to enjoy while practicing social distancing from others plus having the best time ever. Last month my family and I were invited to spend the day at Quarry Park and oh boy let me tell you what a day well spent.
The four of us arrived at Quarry Park that morning not knowing what to expect. I had heard a little bit about it but my husband and girls had never heard of it. We were all in for a treat. We walked to the front where we all had our temperatures taken as a precaution, we were safe to enter. We met Katey a super sweet manager at the park who gave us a brief run-through of each activity, we signed waivers, watched a small video, and headed inside on our way. Quarry Park offers many different things to do such as rock climbing, free falls, rappel, and more. Because of the heat that day we did not get to do every activity. But the ones we did get to do we had an absolute blast!
Zip Lining: For as long as I could remember this has been something I always wanted to do. My husband too. We were both super excited. Unfortunately, Aria was too small to participate and Ivy did not share our excitement. Coming from a 6-year-old who loves high roller coasters we were pretty surprised. But with a bit of encouragement and a call from grandma, she was ready to zipline. Ivy and Dayjhan went together. The staff set them up and off they went flying over the quarry. Me and Aria were so excited, we cheered them on. (Watch Ivy’s video here.) Then it was my turn I will admit it was higher from the ground then it looked.. 60 feet to be exact. But after encouraging Ivy to go I could not turn back. Off flying I went! I screamed the entire time but man what an experience.
Aerial Adventures: This one I did not do I stayed at the bottom with Aria. She was unfortunately too small for this one too. But she didn’t mind running around the quarry drinking the awesome free water they offer. So Ivy and Dayjhan started their aerial adventure on the 3 story high course. The course ranged from really easy to very difficult. There was even a moment where Ivy stop to cry. But one of the amazing staff members climbed up there and help her finish. That meant so much to us because the staff member did not have to do that and she did out of the kindness of heart. So very sweet. Ivy, Dayjhan, and the staff member made it across. Then they zip lined back to the bottom of the quarry. Victory!!
Paddle Boat: Row, row, row your boat. That we did in some adorable little paddle boats. The boats are made for 2 or 4 people, but we decided on a 2 and 2. The kids did not help much with paddling so I and Dayjhan did the most, what a workout. The water was beautiful and we all wore life jackets because safety first. It was fun spotting some animal friends too like frogs, fireflies, and even Franklin the turtle. The Paddleboats were my favorite. So much fun!
Kidz Kove: Kidz Kove was the last activity we decided to do before our departure. According to the kids, we saved the best for last. The girls were so happy to be in the kove. They did so much running, screaming, climbing, jumping. I honestly would suggest every parent do this last. Because after a long day Dayjhan and I got to sit and relax at the tables while the kids let loose. It’s amazing how much energy they still had even after being at Quarry Park for hours. Kidz Kove had many fun elements such as climbing nets, balance beams, and zip lines which were perfect for Aria’s size and of course a ton of freedom. Kidz Kove is for littles ages 3 to 13. P.S no harnesses or helmets are required.
Our day at Quarry Park had come to an end after about 6 hours. We cannot thank the staff enough for their generous hospitality and knowledge. Plus I personally was very impressed with how spotless the park was. It was very clean which was a major bonus. I also wanted to mention the park did have snacks available for purchase but Dayjhan and I had made a friendly bet while paddle boat racing so he had to buy us dinner afterward which is why we did not snack beforehand.
I would never encourage anyone to break quarantine if they and their family are not comfortable. However, if you are looking for a safe, fun, family-friendly time then I would totally suggest Quarry Park! We can’t wait to go back! Thanks for having us Quarry Park Adventures!
