Hi friends!
How are you doing? How is life right now? I know things have been wild. 2020 has been handing us curve balls over and over, left and right. One of the biggest curveballs has been COVID 19.
COVID 19 pretty much arrived and made its uncomfortable self very comfortable. It’s unfortunately not going anywhere anytime soon. Recently our governor decided to open our state backup. Little by little things began to open up slowly. Of course, there are rules and regulations we all have to follow to stay safe but that little bit of light at the end of the tunnel feels nice. When things opened back up we decided two things. #1 We had to get out of the house after being quarantined for months. #2 It definitely had to be the beach. We did some research about the beaches that were open and planned our trip. The day was here! we packed the truck, the snacks, and all the hand sanitizer we owned and we were off.
Ocean Beach, San Francisco CA. It took us a little over an hour of driving to get there but we did. Parking was easy to come by and the girls were so happy to see the beach. We found a really nice spot near a log that appeared to probably have been used during a bonfire. Not too far from the water, but far away from others. Practicing all the social distancing we set up our blankets and the girls wasted no time pulling out all the sand toys. Aria sat still for the most part and played with her toys most of the time. Hence the fact I got a million and one photos of her. But Ivy on the other hand was all over the place. Chasing birds, running around, being buried in the sand by her dad. She wanted a sand made mermaid tale. They never actually achieved it, though it was fun to watch them try. We tried to eat our lunch as best as we could but between the kids tracking sand everywhere and the birds, it kinda wasn’t happening. About an hour in a half into hanging out on the beach we decided to say bye to the warm sand and the ocean views to take a walk.
We packed up the car again and parked it in a nearby neighborhood. We walked around the city streets. Admiring all the Black Lives Matter signs in the window and all the pretty colored homes. We walked about 5-6 blocks before heading back to the car. It was time to really eat this time and head back home.
Our trip was a short day trip but it was so nice to escape the Sacramento heat and head into the city of San Franciso for some cool weather. There was zero traffic for a Saturday afternoon which was nice. Another thing that was nice? there was no stopping for FasTrak. Due to COVID 19, we were able to drive right through and pay our fee via snail mail. Unfortunate circumstances but honestly, great to just drive though because FasTrak is a pain.
We had such a good time and can’t wait until the next trip. If you and your family are planning a trip during COVID 19 make sure to take precautions, keep your distance and try to enjoy what little bit of norm we have left with your loved ones.
