DIY Toddler Gumball Costume Tutorial.

Hey guys! Happy October! Looking for a fun, creative, and easy costume idea for your toddler? This DIY gumball machine outfit is perfect for Halloween, dress-up parties, or just a cute day out! Using just a few simple items from around the house, you can create a colorful and unique gumball machine look that your little one will love. Before we get started, I made this costume for my two year-old daughter however, this can definitely be made the same way for a boy just using a sweater instead of dress. Here’s how to make it:

Materials Needed:

• Pom-Pom Balls: A variety pack of colorful pom-poms.
• Toddler Dress: A plain, fitted dress works best—white or red would look perfect!
• Fabric Glue or Hot Glue Gun: To attach the pom-poms to the dress.
• White printer paper + marker + scissors.
• Safety pins: To attach materials to dress.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Choose the Dress.
If you have a red dress laying around at home grab it! I didn’t unfortunately so I quickly ordered a plain red toddler dress from Amazon—which allowed the colorful pom-poms to really pop.

2. Make your ball & price sheet:

I used plain white printer paper and free hand a circle. Then I also freehanded a small square and wrote down 25 cent.

3. Start Gluing.
Begin gluing the pom-poms onto the dress. Start at the top and work your way down, making sure to space them out evenly for that “gumball machine” effect. Once do flip the gumball around and hot glue your 25 cent tag to the bottom.

 

4. Add Safety Pins

Lastly I took some safety pins and added them to the gum ball and the dress. Clipping on three right in the dresses center. I think this was a great idea because once Halloween is over she can still wear the dress like normal.

Final Touches.

You can pair the dress with white or red tights, cute sneakers or a fun bow for an adorable complete look. If you’re feeling extra crafty, add a headband with a few pom-poms glued to the top to finish off the outfit! I chose to keep it simple because Riley was over it.
