Hi guys! It’s finally here Riley’s swim update. And I’m telling you right now, you’re going to want to read every bit of this.
When We Started..
When Riley started swim lessons back in October at SafeSplash Swim School Natomas, she was a complete beginner. No floating, no real comfort in the water, and definitely no independent movement. Like a lot of parents, my main goal was just safety. Swimming felt like something that would come much later.
7 Months Later…
Now we’re in May, and the progress has honestly shocked me. Through SafeSplash Swim School Natomas, she’s not just getting in the water anymore she’s learning how to move through it with confidence. She’s practicing jumping in, turning herself around, and getting to the wall with help, which are such important real-life safety skills.
Building Water Confidence.
One of the biggest changes has been how comfortable she is underwater, and I really credit SafeSplash Swim School Natomas for that. She’s retrieving toys from about two feet deep (with help), blowing bubbles, and even doing safety bobs on her own. In the beginning, putting her face in the water was a big deal now it’s just part of her routine.
Learning to Float.
Floating used to feel completely out of reach, but now she’s doing both front and back floats. Some are still assisted, but she’s holding positions longer and starting to trust the water. With the guidance from SafeSplash Swim School Natomas, seeing that shift has been one of the biggest moments for me.
Actually Swimming.
This is the part I didn’t expect so soon she’s starting to swim. She’s learning freestyle arm movements, doing multiple strokes, and combining that with kicking. It’s still assisted, but it’s real progress and real technique coming together, and I’ve seen so much of that growth during her time at SafeSplash Swim School Natomas.
Why It Matters.
What I love most is how everything builds on itself. From assisted to more independent, from a few seconds to longer holds, from hesitation to confidence. You can really see the growth over time. More than anything, I’ve seen her confidence grow. She’s more comfortable, more willing, and proud of herself. Seven months ago, I just wanted her to be safe in the water. Now she’s on her way to actually knowing how to swim, and that means everything to me.
