Hi guys! Happy June and happy Juneteenth! Today is a powerful and important day in American history a time to reflect, learn, and celebrate. It marks the moment in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free over 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day that honors freedom, resilience, and the continuing fight for equality.
In our home, we believe it’s important to talk openly about history, even when it’s hard. Teaching our kids about Juneteenth isn’t just about the past it’s about helping them understand their present and shaping their future. It’s about honoring the struggles of our ancestors while celebrating the joy, pride, and progress of today.
This year, we’re spending Juneteenth together as a family coloring, watching videos that reflect our culture, cooking special meals, and talking about what freedom means. These moments create space for understanding and connection across generations.
My hope is these coloring pages spark curiosity and conversation in your home, too. Whether it’s through art, stories, or simply spending time together, let’s keep celebrating our history, our culture, and our freedom. Celebrate today!
