Hi guys! We finally did it—Riley officially has her own room! It’s something we’d been thinking about for a while, and this year just felt like the right time. She’s growing up so fast, and we knew she’d love having her own little space to play, rest, and just be Riley.
Behind Riley’s Room.
If we’re being real, part of the reason behind the timing is because her dad and I were ready to reclaim some space for us. We wanted to get a little closer, enjoy our own room again, and have more grown-up time together. The room that became Riley’s was originally his man cave, but he graciously gave it up so Riley could have her own space—and I love him even more for that!
I told myself I’d have it all done by June, but once I got started, it actually only took about a month to pull together. I wanted something fun and colorful that reflected Riley’s personality, and right away I thought: rainbow.

Paint & Design:
All the paint came from Home Depot and Lowe’s. I went for a whole mural moment—rainbow, sun, grass, sky, and birds. I was super nervous because while I’ve painted before (like when I did Ivy and Aria’s room), this felt a little more structured and detailed. But all things considered, I think I did a pretty decent job!
Furniture & Decor – IKEA:
So much of her room is from IKEA because let’s be honest—it’s the GOAT for kids’ spaces and really affordable.
- Her pink MINNEN bed was actually picked out by Riley herself.
- Her pillows, bookshelf, toy shelf, desk and chairs, yellow side stand, and closet system (minus the doors) are all from IKEA too.
- Oh, and her closet build? That was all thanks to my amazing friend Christina!
Furniture – Living Spaces:
We love Living Spaces, so it only made sense to get her dresser and nightstand from there.
Amazon Finds:
- Her bedding and swing (which hangs perfectly in her little corner) are from Amazon.
- Since she’s not reading yet, I figured a traditional reading nook could wait. But a swing? That she LOVES. YES!
- My dad helped me install it, and she’s already spent so much time just relaxing and playing in it.
Target:
- A few of her pillows and her laundry basket are from Target.
AtHome:
- Her stuffed animals in the swing and her blue storage basket came from At Home.
Five Below:
- Her cute little flower trashcan is from Five Below.
Rugs.com:
- I found her rug on rugs.com, and it adds the perfect touch of fun and flair to the space.
Lovevery & Toys:
- Most of her toys are from Lovevery, with a few extras mixed in from garage sales, Fisher-Price, and other finds.
Closet Doors – Home Depot:
- The closet doors are from Home Depot, and they fit in perfectly with everything else.
Sign – Etsy:
- Her custom “Riley Reign – End of the Rainbow” gold sign came from Etsy, though I won’t be tagging the shop due to a not-so-great experience. But if you guys need tag for anything else, let me know!
Now that it’s all done, she’s absolutely loving it. As I type this, she’s in her room playing, making a mess (of course), and just enjoying the space that’s truly hers. She even had her first little sleepover in there recently, which was adorable and such a hit!
All in all, I’m so proud of how it turned out—and even happier that she loves it as much as we hoped she would.
