“Hi Porsha! We have an exciting opportunity for the Inside Out 2 Premiere.” Those were the words I read one Friday morning in May when I checked my emails. I. Couldn’t. Believe. It. Inside Out 2! A Hollywood premiere? Was this real? It sure was! And on the blog today, I am telling you all about my experience.
Hollywood here we come!
Upon receiving this email, I still couldn’t believe my eyes. I stared at it for what seemed like forever, over-analyzing every piece in my head. I shot an email to my wonderful management team, and they were just as excited as I was. Through back-and-forth negotiations, we finally came to an agreement. Contracts were signed, flights were booked, and the next thing I knew, Ivy and I were off to Hollywood! (Watch reel here)
The morning of the premiere, I kept asking myself, “Is this real?” Even as I was getting myself and Ivy ready, it still felt like Ashton Kutcher was gonna jump out and say, “You’ve been punked!” On the way to the event, I was so jittery. I kept my cool on the outside because I didn’t want to make Ivy nervous. But on the inside, I was feeling all sorts of emotions.
Inside Out 2.
When we got to the event, we checked in and got badge tags. Upon going through security, we entered behind the walls and walked right onto the purple carpet. You know how people say there are some special events in life you’ll absolutely never forget? Well, this was one of them for me. As soon as we hit the carpet, we entered what felt like a different world. There were tons of cameras all snapping photos, tables and tables of special foods themed for the movie, and a bunch of cool booths with swag and photo ops. Oh, and yes, guys, of course, so many celebrities. Honestly, I was so star-struck, but I had to keep my cool and stay professional, hello. After working the carpet and getting photos and footage done for the Post-It’s campaign, it was movie time! Ivy and I headed upstairs in the theater to take our seats right in the middle; we honestly couldn’t have had better seats. The movie was A MUST SEE! I loved the introduction of the new characters, the storyline, and I loved hearing ‘Riley’ on the screen every few seconds because of my own daughter.
All in all, my first red—or should I say purple—carpet experience was a fairy tale. I can’t speak for Ivy because this is just my personal experience. However, I can say that watching her be at her first-ever Hollywood premiere at the tender age of only 10 years old and seeing the excitement behind her eyes really made my heart grow three times bigger. Being able to experience something so incredible with her was a blessing, and I hope she remembers it for the rest of her life and tells the story to her grandkids one day.
A huge thank you to my management team for pushing this through, the Post-It’s team for selecting me and my daughter for a beautiful opportunity, Disney and Pixar for an incredible movie and premiere, and lastly, my family and friends for supporting me through it all. I love you guys!
