Howdy y’all! And welcome! This here is my blog and today I’m gonna be sharing with y’all my family’s trip to Texas! Alright alright, I’ll stop with the country talk now! But seriously, you guys, this trip was one for the books and we had the best time! Not to mention that when we decided to leave Texas, we took a little detour to Las Vegas. Well, I said it was one for the books, right?
Texas! The Carr’s have arrived!
We arrived in Texas on a beautiful sunny Tuesday afternoon and after a 6:00 am plane ride, in which we had a Las Vegas layover with 3 kids, you can imagine we were tired! Our first stop after grabbing our rental truck? Whataburger!!! I had always heard DD talk about this place and I always wanted to try it. When we went inside, there was a very irritating paint smell due to the fact that they were painting the building, so we decided to take our food and eat in the car. It was amazing, definitely worth the wait all these years! I had a bacon cheeseburger and it did not disappoint. Once we finished eating, we headed to our hotel at the Hyatt, one of our favorite hotel chains to stay in. The room was so beautiful and clean, and the employees were very nice. We decided to all nap as a family and once we got up from our nap, we decided to hit up Target for a few random items, mainly snacks. We ate some bomb soul food at The Catch for dinner and turned in for the night.
The next morning, after sleeping in, we had breakfast at First Watch, coffee at Summer Moon, and we were on our way to meet DD’s family. The kids had fun meeting their cousins for the first time and getting to know one another. After all these years of just talking on the phone and seeing photos, it was so great seeing everyone in person. The girls got to play outdoors all evening and we even took a ride on the side by side, mine and Ivy’s first time! It was really scary riding through the woods, but it was such an experience. Once we started getting eaten up by mosquitoes, we figured it was time to head back to our hotel for the night.
The next morning we hit up another breakfast spot called The Toasted Yolk and checked out an amazing little store called Buy The Book, where we spent entirely too much money on books… Just kidding, that’s impossible, but we got some great stuff. Afterwards, while DD went to play golf with the guys, the girls and I went to go meet my longtime friend and manager, Katie. Katie has been the best manager to me for the last three years, but we have never met in person. It was so amazing getting to meet her and getting to paint some pottery with her and the girls. We checked out Teddy Bear park down the street afterwards so the kids could play and then went our separate ways. DD, the girls, and I drove around Houston doing a little bit of sightseeing before meeting up with the family and even stopped at the burger spot Trill for a bite.
The day had come for the girls to go swimming with their cousins. Pretty sure this was their favorite day of all. Our in-laws have an amazing pool in their backyard. In my opinion, it’s basically like a mini waterpark. We spent the day swimming, barbecuing, and just hanging out. It was so chill, the perfect way to end our trip. On our last full day there, we met with my father-in-law and a few family members, grabbed snow cones, hung out at a fun arcade pizza spot, and then went night swimming. The next morning arrived and we packed up the kids and our luggage, did a little more sightseeing, and headed to the airport!
This ain’t Texas!
The night before we left Texas, we realized that we just weren’t ready to go home! We had another layover in Las Vegas so we decided, what the hell, let’s spend two nights in Vegas! The kids had been wanting to go back and so had we! We landed in Las Vegas, grabbed our rental, and headed to our room at the MGM Grand. We wanted to make sure that we made the most of our small time in Las Vegas so I made a list and checked nearly everything off of it. Welcome to Las Vegas sign, Seven Magic Mountains, Circus Circus, The Sugar Factory, M&M, Coca Cola, and Hershey’s Store, then dinner at Señor Frogs! It was a jam-packed day and the girls loved it! Even Ry! Our little first-timer.
So long Texas & Vegas!
It’s never easy to head back home after a vacation. But it’s always nice to be back in your own bed! This spring break trip was filled with so many amazing people, memories, and of course food Duh! My family and I will never forget! God bless spring break 24!
