Hi guys! How are you enjoying the last part of summer? We have been trying to keep cool and trying to have fun. So Dayjhan and I decided to take the girls on one last adventure before school starts and where better than the Bay Area Discovery Museum?
We’re here!
Arrival & First Impressions.
San Francisco is a city known for its rich history, cultural diversity, and iconic landmarks. One such landmark that promises an enriching and entertaining experience for families is the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Nestled in the heart of the city, the Bay Area Discovery Museum offers a unique blend of educational exhibits and hands-on activities that are sure to captivate the minds and imaginations of tiny explorers.
Upon stepping into the Discovery Museum, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Lots of bicyclist, families and a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. As we entered, we were greeted by friendly staff and a welcoming environment that instantly put us at ease even more. The museum’s layout was well thought out, offering clear signage and a sense of anticipation for the adventures that awaited.
Interactive Exhibits Galore.
The heart of the Bay Area Discovery Museum lies in its interactive exhibits that cater to various interests and age groups. Our girls were immediately drawn to “Los Trompos,” their excitement was out of this world. These vibrant, larger-than-life spinning tops immediately drew them in with their colors and playful shapes. Watching them spin around with pure joy was a testament to the magic of interactive art. And then, at “Paint My Ride,” their creativity took the wheel as they transformed car models into personalized masterpieces with colorful paints. These two attractions, “Los Trompos” and “Paint My Ride,” became instant favorites, adding an extra layer of fun and creativity.
Other fun exhibits the girls enjoyed? “Sea Cycle”. There they embarked on an aquatic adventure, exploring the wonders of marine life and ecosystems while pedaling a unique watercraft. The “How Things Work” exhibit offered a hands-on exploration of scientific principles, where our girls experimented with interactive displays to unravel the mysteries of physics and mechanics. Even Dayjhan loved this! Lastly, “Cardboard City” brought out their inner architects and urban planners, as they constructed and navigated a bustling cityscape entirely made of cardboard. Ivy created a book and Ari made some fun colorful sticks. Each exhibit provided a distinct and engaging experience, leaving our girls and even us inspired, enlightened, and eager to discover more.
Hey, hey! Outdoor Explorations.
Our outdoor escapades were a symphony of exploration and wonder too! As our girls embraced the beauty and excitement of nature in its various forms. “Gumnut Grove” beckoned them into a realm of native plants and biodiversity, where they discovered the secrets of the natural world firsthand. Now that’s my kinda Grove! “Lookout Cove” elevated their sense of adventure, inviting them to scale heights, appreciate breathtaking vistas, and truly feel like top notch explorers. Plus hello giant slide! At “Bayfront Beach”, they connected with the allure of the coast, while engaging in hands-on activities that left them enriched and entertained. And then, the “Mud Kitchen” added a dash of creativity to their outdoor journey, as they whipped up imaginative concoctions in a space that epitomized the joys of childhood play. The only two exhibits we didn’t get to try that I really wanted were “Tot Spot” and “Bay Hall”. I believe one was closed due to summer camp. So def check those out durning your visit if you can. Also be sure to check out Bean Sprouts for an array of tasty foods. We really enjoyed the pizza fruit snacks, and lemonade!
Learning through Play & Have a fun day.
The Bay Area Discovery Museum truly excels in its ability to make learning an exciting adventure. Our girls had a blast and learned while having fun! From the moment we stepped through its doors to the moment we left, we noticed the museum’s commitment to engaging and interactive exhibits made for an educational experience that felt more like a play date than study session. As parents, witnessing our girls’ eyes light up with wonder and excitement was a priceless reminder of the power of hands-on learning. If you’re ever in San Francisco with tiny explorers in tow, the Bay Area Discovery Museum is an absolute must-visit destination that promises to deliver fun, learning, and memories to cherish for a lifetime. Thank you so much to the museum for a fun day!
