Hi guys! Today I’ve finally got around to doing something I’ve been trying to do since like early April. That’s right blog about Ivy’s birthday trip! Phew.. no lie every time I’ve sat down to do it, it’s not got done but now with another Disney trip right around the corner (shhh hehe I’ll talk about that on ig soon). I figured it was time to get this blog out first right? Ivy’s birthday trip was as magical as she is and here’s everything that happened.
Disney here comes Ivy & the Carrs!
Months before Riley was born Ivy requested one BIG thing for her 8th birthday Disneyland! She wanted to spend it at the happiest place on earth with her family. Planning ahead I knew Riley would be 3 months on the dot and I figured it would be hard but we were ready for the challenge.
March 29 rolled around and Riley was officially 3 months, our little Ford Explorer was packed to the brim with luggage. Rocking our Disney outfits for the airport and it was time to go! Also a huge shout out to my god mom for making the girls sweet gift baskets above with custom travel items to take on our trip! It was perfect!
So my mother in law dropped us off at the airport and it was well.. crazy to say the least. Fast forward to a week before we we’re dragging our luggages and kids in the airport and here we have a panicked Dayjhan. He’s on the phone with me pissed about how he lost his ID and couldn’t get another in time for the trip. So back to the story and here we were a week later with TSA and a bunch of other documents proving it’s him. In the meantime I have to go through security with a 3 month old, 6 year old and an almost 8 year old by myself! Between taking off shoes, emptying back packs and rearranging the stroller inside out for a wipe down test I think I did a pretty good job looking like a circus mom. Anywho he made it through 15 minutes later and we all boarded the plane. For Riley’s first flight we got very lucky. The plane was nearly empty and we had the whole back part to ourselves. She also did really well and slept the entire time.
Once we landed our shuttle driver picked us up and we headed to Hojo. Our room wasn’t ready so we waited a good time but it only gave me a chance to instacart some diapers, waters and various birthday items like balloons and candles to the hotel. Once checked in and rested we headed to downtown Disney for some good eats at The Black Tap. They hosted a yummy dinner for us and had the best ice cream ever! They also had killer mozzarella sticks. A huge thank you to The Black Tap for hosting us! Will be back! After dinner birthday shopping ensued where we spent way to much money but got good Disney stuff. But tomorrow was our first day at Disney it was time to call it a day and rest.
Starwars errrthang! (day. 1)
Each day we had a theme that Dayjhan choose and the first day was Starwars. I don’t know much about it but I know him and the girls love it.
We got in the park and Instantly started riding rides. I can’t remember the exact order but Small World was first and it was Riley’s very first Disney ride! She fell asleep.. she was 3 months not sure what I was expecting. We then got to see a small parade like dance show and the girls we’re so happy to see their favorite characters singing and dancing. Lots of snacks like pretzels, cotton candy soda and rides like The carousel, and Snow White later and it was time to meet Mariabel.
Yup! The only and only green glasses wearing Madrigal herself. Riley and I stood in line for 1.5 hours while the big girls and dad rode rides. The wait was worth it they were so tickled to see her. For the rest of the day we continued eating our way through Disney. With dinner at the Grand Californian behind and lots of fun we ended the day at the hotel with Fireworks. Our first born was almost 8.
Happy 8th Birthday Ivy Rose! (day. 2)
Ivy woke up to some small decorations I put up and a custom made cake I had ordered and delivered by Custom Cakes By Liab A local cake decorator I found on IG. She did an amazing job. Ivy was so happy her Minnie Mouse cake was perfect and delicious. The gifts didn’t hurt either.
We arrived to the park and had reservations to eat at thePlaza Inn. This is our favorite breakfast spot and the characters came around to do a little dance. Riley even met Minnie Mouse it was adorable, because she was dressed kinda like Minnie. Next it was a day full of Ivy says all the things she wanted to eat, ride and see. All of her favorites like churros and The Haunted Mansion. The girls even got to do a fun Disney Easter Egg hunt. A hunt where they received cards and a character prize to find special eggs hidden throughout the park. Easter being only a few days away at the time this was so perfect!
Having a baby at the park was hard so I took a lot of breaks with her while Dayjhan took the girls on most of the rides. They even got to experience a dance show with some Inside out characters. Ivy loved it! Throughout all the fun we ran into our favorite Disney fam the Martinez crew. We would eventually spend more time with them the next day so for the moment we just chose to have a little meet up for the kiddos.
Later shopping the girls picked out some fun toy items at a shop and we headed back to the hotel. Boom! Boom! Bang! Fireworks started going off right as we started to sing happy birthday to our girl. It couldn’t of been a more perfect way to end her birthday. She told us she had the best birthday ever and is currently planning her trip for her next birthday oh gosh Ivy.
Adventures & friends. (day. 3)
Our finally and last day was spent at DCA. Dayjhan loves DCA so he was super excited for this day. Before we even got half way through the gates we were buying the girls ears to add to their collection and churros to add to their tummies. A must have at 9 am right?
The first ride we jumped on was Monsters Inc. A family favorite and since we had genie passes the line had virtually no people. After the ride we met up with the Martinez crew and the kids got to make cupcakes with Alice Wonderland Bakery. A limited time interactive show where the kids become chefs and decorate their own cupcakes as the parents watch on. This was different and fun! They totally had a sugar rush afterwards.
Next another new experience Food and Wine. This was our first time actually buying a pass and the foods did not disappoint. Next year Dayjhan and I won’t be sharing passes ha! I know we just be eating through everything uh? We then added more crazy to our crew when we met up with the Wilson fam! That’s 8 kids if you lost count. Obviously there was no boring moments there but soon the group split apart as everyone was doing food and wine with their family and trying to do different things. But that’s okay because later on we came back together ending our day with lots of bath room trips for the littles, spider man, fireworks and good memories with friends who are like family.
What a trip..
Getting back home through the airport and all pretty much looked the same with Dayjhan having no ID. But we made it and this time my mom picked us up with even more luggage of souvenirs. Still trying to figure out how I got all the things to fit in the luggages!
I planned like a mad woman for this first trip as a family of 5. I can honestly say it was worth it. Every gray hair and penny. I hope Ivy remembers this as one of the best trips ever and I’m so glad we were able to pull this off for her. She’s the sweetest kid.
This was a hard one but one of my favorite trips and I’m counting the days till we’re back again. Stay tuned..
Love you kiddo!
