Hi friends + family!
Happy Monday! It’s a new week, a new day, a new hour which means new possibilities right? Of course! This week (tomorrow actually) I will be apart of the Wow Summit for Moms Meet. This is my second year in a row being a guest speaker and I must say I am very honored. This year I will be answering questions on how to work with brands, creating videos, mom life owns more. So I decided in lieu of the interview it would also be fun to jump on here and share a quick post. My 3 favorite tips for working with brands.
Top 3 favorite tips.
#1 Sale thy self : So this is definitely my favorite tip of all time SALE YOURSELF. Brands won’t know you exist if you don’t put yourself out there. Sale yourself to a brand by pitching to them. Sending them an email (which you can find on their website or IG) with a copy of your media kit (resume) and a short summary about you. For example;
Hello,
My name is (INSERT), I’m a content creator living in (INSERT). I am a wife, mother of three and an amazing spokesperson.
I am reaching out because I would love to speak with you about possibly working together. My blog focuses on lifestyle, motherhood, family reviews & more. I bring to the table a fresh perspective on (INSERT PRODUCT) because (INSERT WHY). I hope to work with you soon.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, (INSERT NAME)
Now guys remember this is just an example. Don’t copy this and send it to a company MAKE IT YOUR OWN! Spice it up and make it you. It’s a nice example but that’s all that it is, is an example. But remember the shorter the better when pitching yourself. Companies get hundreds and hundreds of emails. So the shorter the pitch the better chance you have they may read it in it’s entirety.
#2 Know your worth: The other day I was speaking to my mother in law about worth. We were talking about how to not take jobs in life for those who don’t provide you with what you’re worth. As a creator when you first start out you may take handfuls of free jobs for product. That’s fine but after a while you will want to start to charge these companies. Sometimes companies will low ball you and pay you a dime for something that should be a quarter. This is where knowing your worth is so damn important. Ask for what you know you deserve and if the company really wants to work with you then the two of you can come to an agreement. Don’t settle for less than what you know you deserve. I’ve turned down huge household names because they did not see my worth. That’s okay! It’s okay to say no, it’s okay to pass because you are worth it and why work with a company who doesn’t see that?
#3 Networking, networking: I consider myself a shy person. But when it comes to this job you have to network. Meeting new people, making new friends, knocking on the right doors can make a big difference when trying to work with a brand. When you network with the right people you could find yourself in amazing spots doing amazing things. I even have business cards I hand out.. well my mom hands them out for me lol. Seriously everywhere she goes. Love you mom! But as I was saying networking is a great way to get your name out there and land yourself some jobs!
