Hi friends + family.
Today I am bringing you my February book review. If you missed January’s you can find it here. The book we’re reviewing today is called The Dead Ex by Jane Corry. Jane Corry is a great writer. Last year I read her book entitled My Husband’s Wife and it was such a great read. So many twist and turns I remember finishing it up super fast and wanting more. So as you may guess I was excited to read this one too. P.S definitely SPOLER ALERTS BIG TIME! Read at your own discretion.
The Dead Ex review.
When I picked up this book I knew I was in for a treat just by reading the title. The book follows The pretty much the main character Vicki who is trying to live a normal life after being diagnosed with epilepsy and getting divorced. Though Vicki is trying to live a normal life she is suddenly being haunted. Haunted by her past when detectives coming knocking at her door to question her about her missing ex husband David. Vicki unfortunately still has feelings for her ex so she decides to go looking for him herself which lands her in a world of trouble. Suddenly she finds herself in prison for the murder of David’s wife she isn’t even sure if she committed. The book also follows a young girl from her childhood to adulthood named Scarlet. Scarlet grows up in foster care after her mother is sent to prison for well.. lots of things. Lastly the book follows a 3rd woman named Helen who SPOLER ALERT actually ends up being Scarlet after she grew up and changed her identity. This book gets so crazy! Helens mom ends up killing David’s wife not Vicki. But she frames Vicki for it. Next thing you know David reappears like hello I was never dead, but oh no my wife is dead ah! Did I mention Helen also has a baby by David. Helen also hates Vicki for keeping her mom in prison when she was a child. Because yes Vicki use to be a prison warden. Did I also mention Helen’s mom killed Vicki and David’s son aka Helen’s daughter (with David) half brother technically. OH MY GOSH! Confused yet?! Oh yeah David ends up in prison too. But for murder? Well I’m not spoiling everything. I LOVE THIS BOOK! it was wild, it was twisted it was everything. I will say there was a small part of the book that focused on the rape of Scarlet as a child which I didn’t enjoy reading. But still a good book. I’d give it 5 stars! Go read it!
