This post is sponsored by Element Sacramento Airport, however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I remember the day my daughters and I took a trip to the grocery store and spotted a giant pile of dirt in the corner of the parking lot. Every time we took a trip to the grocery store we watched in amazement as this building was built from nothing but that pile of dirt. One day we would pass by and the building had a roof, then it had installation! a parking lot! a pool! I even remember the day we passed by as they were carrying in mattresses and lamps. It took us a while to figure out what was going on but when we finally did we were so excited! It a hotel, a hotel we had watched come to life. Little did we know that we would be having our first family staycation in that very hotel. The Element Sacramento Airport.
A staycation!
Today’s word of the day is staycation. What exactly is a staycation? Well according to google the definition of a staycation is as followed: “A staycation is a period in which an individual or family stays home and participates in leisure activities within day-trip distance of their home.” So my family and I packed our overnight bags, grabbed a bunch of snacks, tossed the camera in the trunk and we were off to the Element Sacramento Airport.
Element Sacramento Airport.
The Element Sacramento Airport is inspired by Westin® Hotels & Resorts. Nestled in the beautiful city of Sacramento, CA, and just minutes away from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and Downtown Sacramento. This brand new hotel has already made a huge impact with its urban residence. At the Element, you will feel your best with a nature-influenced environment, cozy layouts in each guest room, eco-friendly amenities, and much more. My family and I were so anxious for our visit and when we finally arrived and gathered our things out of the car we walked inside and let the fun begin.
My family’s stay.
We were lucky enough to check into our room a little early. Without hesitation, we were greeted by the staff as soon as we walked through those doors. I kid you not when I say this staff was some of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They got us checked in, showed us the delicious snack area, and cozy lobby making sure we were all comfortable. Plus they answered all of the questions we had in regards to our stay. Our room was on the very top floor, the fourth floor and we headed up via elevator. Unlike other hotels, their elevator music was so legit. My family and I danced the whole way up to our room. No shame in our game hashtag #familydanceparty.
Once we got to our room the girls wasted no time jetting straight in yelling “wow!” and claiming their bed. The view in our room was so pretty. Not only could we see all of the shopping centers, but also a direct view of the city and the pool below. The room was private, large, and spacious. Modern furniture, sleek simple designs, netural fun tones, and even included a fully equipped kitchen with a water filtration system! I fell in love when I saw that. The room also included a gorgeous bathroom with a full shower. My little Aria thought it would be a great idea to start unpacking our overnight bags. She found lots of space in the storage closet and even a nice spot for our shoes underneath the small bench-like seat right next to the TV. Ah, yes the TV! So amazing. My husband loved this feature the most. The TV featured a TV Swivel Stand which made the TV move in all sorts of directions. He is totally wanting to get one now. I can’t say I blame him. Having a TV with the ability to move where you move was pretty darn cool. My favorite feature was definitely the writing desk with the ergonomic chair and electrical outlets. Hey, it’s the writer in me. Though I didn’t do any work while on our staycation it was nice just hanging out at the desk and snacking.
A few hours rolled around and…
It was time for gym and swimming. Due to covid the hotel actually has every family make reservations so they can enjoy time at the gym and the pool privately. Practicing social distancing has never been so fun and easy I’ll say. The gym is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including lots of free equipment for all to use. Did I mention there are even bikes you can rent for free to take out on there many trails of Sacramento? Neat right? The pool is not open 24 hours a day but is still one of the best parts of the hotel. The pool is also heated and has plenty of outdoor space for lounging in the sun and an outdoor shower. It even has complimentary pool towels and is surrounded by the prettiest set of palm trees. Outside the pool is an amazing deck. The deck includes full BBQ grills, electric fire pits, comfy sitting areas, and Instagram-worthy string lights. We went to the pool not once but twice because the girls are water babies and literally cried to swim the day away.
Once we were done enjoying the indoor and outdoor amenities we visited the shopping centers within walking distance and did a little shopping. My niece from the Air Force was in town visiting so we showed her a good time. We even let her get a peek at the hotel which she was so impressed with.
That night my little family and I cuddle into one bed and watched some movies on Netflix until we fell asleep. The next morning we were treated to a complimentary breakfast that included fresh hot eggs and potatoes. whole fruits, coffee, and even yogurt. We washed up, packed our things, and just like that our wonderful staycation had come to an end.
Book with the Element Sacramento Airport.
I think we can all agree this last year has been pretty wild. So many things have happened and I think another thing we can agree on is that we are exhausted.
