Hi friends! The day is here!! Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon is officially out for your viewing pleasure on Disney+. This movie has created so much buzz and has been highly anticipated for a while now. When I first heard of Raya my initial thought was “oh this looks cute“. A brightly colored movie poster that featured a kick-ass girl, a dragon, and some fun-looking characters. So that was that I put the date on my calendar and dubbed it a family movie night. But wait what is Raya and the Last Dragon even about?
What’s it about?
Raya and the Last Dragon is a movie that follows a young warrior by the name of Raya voiced by Kelly Marie Tran. But this warrior is on a mission to find the last dragon. Hundreds of years ago in the land of Kumandra some not-so-nice monsters by the name of the Druun wreaked havoc and threatened the land of Kumandra. Forcing the dragons to sacrifice themselves and save the humans. Now the Druun monsters are back and Raya is in desperate need to find the legendary last dragon. Directed by Don Hall and Carlos LĆ³pez Estrada this movie was bound to be a hit right?
Our family reviews: SPOILER ALERTS.
Well not only did I review this but my husband and our 5 and 6 years old daughters did as well. Let’s jump into our reviews, shall we?
My husband said (Dayjhan): It was cool, I liked it. It was fun, it was a lot of action. It had a nice meaning.
Ivy said (age 6): I liked it! Sisu was my favorite part.
Aria said (age 5): I liked it! I wanna watch it again. (She then ran off with a blanket tucked into her butt. She has been calling herself Zaleyah the purple dragon.) I’m pretty sure we have a Halloween costume in the making here.
My review: This movie was sensational! From the very first few minutes of the movie, I was already into it. It had me hooked! From the aminations to the storyline I felt like a child on edge. So many super cute characters, so many twists, and turns. You could never guess what would happen next.
I absolutely lived for the rivalry between Raya and Namarri. Those wild fighting scenes they had, starting off as enemies and ended up having to save the world together. I wonder if they went on to be good friends after the movie ended? I also would love to know what the other characters ended up doing too after everyone reunited.
Another thing I enjoyed was Sisu! Sisu carried the movie for me. She was hilarious and also really cute. Piggy-backing off what my husband said this movie had a heartfelt meaning. I won’t spoil it all but I appreciate how it stayed true to a real-life meaning while also being easy for little ones to understand. Let me tell you I had tears in my eyes at the end. I really hope there is a sequel to this movie because there is so much that could happen with a sequel. This movie was totally worth the money and I would recommend it to every family.
Also P.S where can I buy a Noi doll? Because the girls were in love with her and she was a sassy baby.
