Hi friends, do you have little ones like me? If you have been following my blog for a while then you know I have two awesome little ones of my own Ivy who is 6 1/2 and Aria who is 4 1/2. While being a mom for the last 6 1/2 years has been the wildest adventure I have ever had, I thought I was pretty prepared for everything. I read all the parenting books you can think of, watched all the videos and how to’s, went to mom playdate groups, and learned things I didn’t know from other moms. I took an immense amount of notes along the way. While all of that was great, absolutely nothing prepared me for how to be a parent during a pandemic, social distancing, and explaining mask-wearing to my children. Until I learned about the United We Mask virtual event for kids that is.
Pandemic + Parenting.
Earlier this year when the virus hit, none of us parents knew what to expect. But not knowing what to expect and not knowing when you have little ones looking up to you is really scary. Since then so much has changed, especially during the last few months. But while there’s still so much uncertainty, we know more now than we knew then, like how important wearing a mask is. So, we all know that wearing a mask has been suggested when out in public to stop or spread germs. But there is definitely more to wearing a mask than that.
United We Mask the event.
Today I team up with the wonderful nonprofit United We Mask to raise awareness for a fun virtual event that we attended. It was an event that made mask more approachable and cool for everyone! In the 45 minute event, we heard from partners with Baxter of California, Shelby Joy Frank, and Kaitlyn Chu talked all about mask-wearing 101. The event featured introductions, read alongs, which my girls loved, and a Maskerade Hour. Maskerade Hour was a virtual shopping experience that everyone got to enjoy after the event. During the event, we also heard from experts on maskne. Maskne is the discomfort that can come from wearing a mask.
This event was loads of fun and so many parents attended with their little ones which was pretty cool. When our children understand the importance of wearing a mask it will help them take pride in doing their part for the world. Oh, and did I mention every attendee was able to stay, shop, and play post-event. We even entered raffles for free prizes! Cool right?
Do you know what’s even cooler? For every mask ordered, they will donate one to the community. There is so much fun in store when you do your part to help.
