Hi friends!
What does your family night look like these days? A few board games, maybe a movie, just sitting around staring at one another? Boring! Time to take family night and kick it up a notch. With more time at home than ever before, I’m not just talking about your average family night here. I’m talking Grammy award-winning artists, amazing performances, full face masks, and of course, what’s a family night without snacks, right? Right! I’m talking The Masked Singer on FOX inspired night with entertainment and crafts the whole family will enjoy!
The #1 show on TV is officially back this Wednesday 9/23 at 8/7c on FOX with an all-new season! If you thought the first few seasons were wild wait until you tune in to season 4. If you are unfamiliar with The Masked Singer on FOX let me fill you in really quick. The Masked Singer is a show on FOX with a major twist. Star-studded celebrities from all backgrounds, like singers and athletes, come together to face off in a singing competition complete with dance moves and grooves. So, what’s the twist? They do it all while masked! Yep. Each celebrity competes in an awesome, over the top, elaborate costume. Concealing their identity from everyone. No one and I mean no one knows who is under the mask. The host, panelists, audience, viewers, and even the other contestants are all left to wonder who is behind that mask? Each week one celebrity will be eliminated, ultimately once and for all revealing his or her real identity. I know, I know it’s pretty exciting.
The Masked Singer on FOX is coming back unlike anything the franchise has seen before! All-new songs, all-new moves, all-new celebrities, and my personal favorite all-new masks/costumes. The family-friendly guessing game returns to our televisions this Wednesday, September 23 8/7c on FOX and my family and I can hardly wait. In honor of the show’s return, we are celebrating with a family night and creating our own DIY masks inspired by the one’s contestants will wear on the show. We like to call it The Masked Family. Today I am encouraging you and your family to join in on the fun and do the same. So, what will you need?
You will need the following for your Masked Family night:
- Construction paper (all colors)
- Craft supplies (of your choice) I.E pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, jewels, sequins, beads, pom-poms, felt, glitter etc.
- Glue (regular glue or glue gun)
- & String
Now, this is the really fun part. Go crazy! Get creative with your mask. If your child wants to make a unicorn go for it! Or maybe you even wanna make something different like a pink turtle. Hey no rules here, let your family’s creativity flow and make those wild masks. My family created 5 masks. All of which were inspired by characters from this upcoming season! We made a Crocodile, Squiggly Monster, Baby Alien, Snow Owls, and a Whatchamacallit.
We were inspired to create these masks after watching FOX’s DIY Crocodile mask video and check out our family’s Squiggly Monster mask tutorial below for more inspiration.
Step 1: Take a piece of cardboard and cut out a round head and holes for the eyes.
Step 2: Use markers, crayons, etc. to color your Squiggly Monster your desired color.
Step 3: Use your glue to add eyeballs to the Squiggly Monster & cheerios if you wanna get crazy. (The cheerios were totally our snack and Ivy just thought they would be cool on her Squiggly Monster).
Step 4: Add the desired stickers. (Ivy used space stickers).
Step 5: Create crazy hair using your pipe cleaners and boom! You have just created a Squiggly Monster.
Oh yes! You’re all done! And by now you’re looking just like a Crocodile-Squiggly-Alien-Owl or something like that. It was so much fun creating all of these masks with my family. Not only did we enjoy the crafts and snacks but most importantly each other’s company. We are so hyped for the new season of The Masked Singer on FOX and can’t wait to rock our masks on the premiere night!
