Hi friends!
Ever heard the quote “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas?” who made that up anyway? While that quote is typically correct, today I am spilling it all. Everything about my Vegas trip a few weeks ago from when I went to see my cousin. So apparently what happens in Vegas is on the blog today!
Rewind to spring 2020. I purchased airplane tickets for me and my girls to go visit my cousin Alisa. Since both of the girls were having spring break at the time I knew this would be perfect timing for the trip. Well, Covid19 had other plans. After I purchased my tickets next thing I knew businesses were shutting down, kids were being permanently pulled out of school flights were being canceled including ours. Safe to say our spring break trip to Vegas was definitely not happening. We were able to get a credit for our tickets and decided it was safer to stay home. Fast forward again a few months later and my cousin got the word that she and her family were officially moving to Germany. See my cousin’s husband is in the Air Force and they had been stationed in Vegas for some years. But after wishing and hoping they finally learned their prayers had come true and they were heading to Germany. when I heard my cousin would be leaving for the next 3 years I knew I had to take a trip to see her. Even months later with Covid19 still lingering I took all the necessary precautions to travel and I made the decision to leave the girls home. They weren’t too happy but they had a great time at their grandma’s during my trip.
So for weeks my cousin’s husband and I devised a plan so I could come to Vegas and surprise her. I was even texting her on the plane she had no idea I was coming. When I got there she was out shopping so I and her daughter Zoe hid behind a wall in the kitchen and when she finally came home I yelled: “I’m here!” She literally dropped her bags and ran up to me. We hugged forever. I was so happy to see her and even happier I got to spend 3 days hanging out with her before she moved away.
That night Alisa, me, and my other cousin Alisa’s sister Bri headed out for some girls night fun. We wasted no time jumping in the car, driving around Vegas, laughing, joking singing The City Girls at the top of our lungs. How I wish I could relive that night. When we finally headed home it was time for bed for the next day we would have a full girls day of fun.
The next day we slept in till around 12:30 and got dressed. The three of us decided to go do a little shopping. We headed to a local store where we actually did more looking than shopping. I mean we found a few deals but no steals. By this time we were definitely hungry so Shake Shack it was! Let me tell you when I say Shake Shake is life… SHAKE SHAKE IS LIFE. I’m pretty sure we all swallowed our burger and fries. It’s amazing I actually got photos of the food at all. Somewhere in between there we did more shopping at the outlets, took a tour of some beautiful model homes for fun, and bought a ton of Rae Dunn. Before we knew it our day was over and it was time to head home for a night of girls talk, Tik Tok’s and falling asleep while Alisa did some DIY shirts on her Cricut.
The next day we had to say goodbye to Bri. Unfortunately, she had got there about a week and a half before me so it was time for her to head home but not before we ate of course. We grabbed some soul food and dropped Brianna off at the airport. Safe travels Bri! It was time for Alisa and me to hit the strip! Surprisingly many things were still open on the strip so we had a lot of options. We shared a giant daiquiri and hit up a few stores to shop for some clothes before we hit up the M&M store. I always love visiting there when I go to Vegas. it’s always a delicious time. We also hit up the Reese’s store across the way where we loaded up on even more chocolate. We later took a few photos and headed home for the night. Oh, I forgot to mention that earlier that day we totally got lost looking for Coffee Bean, took the wrong freeway a million times ventured onto Instagram live and barley made it back home. But that part of what happens in Vegas will definitely stay in vegas. Moving right along…
Sadly our days had flown by so quickly it was time for me to head home too. But we had to see one thing! The Seven Magic Mountain. The colorful rocks located in the desert of Vegas. I officially got to scratch this off my bucket list as this had been something I had wanted to see for years. The rocks more vibrant in person stood so tall and pretty. I think we took about 100 photos there. It was so surreal. When we left the rocks we visited a local Applebee’s for lunch and visited Target too. I tell ya there is no better way than to end a trip to Vegas than by going to Target.
As I stared out the window on the airplane on my way home I wondered when would be the next time I would see my cousin. A few weeks after my visit she officially moved away to Germany. Though I miss my cousin every day I am so proud of her and her family for taking that leap. Even today because of the time difference we don’t get to talk every second like we use too. But one thing’s for sure she is only one call away and will always have those memories from our 3 days in Vegas together. I love you, Lisa!
