How are things going? Hopefully, you are hanging in there, having some fun at home, and, of course, keeping up with all of my fun Disney blog post. Today’s post is actually one many of you have been waiting for! Officially part one of our Disney cruise.
On the morning of the cruise, we couldn’t wait to board, especially the girls they had never been on a cruise before so they were so excited. Even though we had to be up at 5:30 am to check out and have our bags outside our doors nothing could hinder our excitement. Once everyone was in the lobby all of the creators and their families boarded buses that took us to AMC theater at Disney Springs. It was there that we were treated to a warm boxed breakfast and a movie that wasn’t even out in theaters at the time. Ever heard of Onward? Onward is an incredible movie where two brothers set off on a magical journey to see their dad..well something like that. I won’t spoil the movie for you but I will say it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you laugh and it’ll make you appreciate your family so much more. Such an incredible movie, we are anxiously awaiting the DVD to hit stores. When Onward was over we then loaded back up on the buses and headed to the port to board Disney’s Dream.
Upon pulling up to the Dream all I could think about was woah that ship is huge! We went through security and regular paperwork. It was time officially step foot on the Dream. Introducing the Carr family! A voice said over our heads as we walked through a row of crew members clapping for us. It was so cool. Dayjhan and the kids headed right for the buffet as our rooms wouldn’t be ready right away. I headed to guest services where I signed myself and Dayjhan up to run the 5k on Castaway Cay a few days later. I then met up with my family for food. Buffet after buffet after buffet there was so much food to choose from. From seafood to Italian, American and every kind of mickey mouse shaped desert our heart desired there was no limit on how much food we could devour. Suddenly I received a text saying our room was actually ready. But unfortunately, it was time to go our sperate ways again because I had a creator event. I said goodbye to my family as they retreated to the room and I made my way to the event.
The welcome reception was such a well put together event (some of the photos above were taken by an amazing photographer at the event). When we arrived we were offered drinks and super cute Disney themed cupcakes. We had a fun show put on by Mickey himself and some of his friends, a cosplay Disney fashion show with some of the creators. We talked all about what we would be doing during our upcoming days on the ship. The reception was short and sweet and I was able to make it back to my room with my family and explore. Our room was nice and cozy. Inside we had a nice comfy bed for my husband and me, bunk beds for our girls which came out out the wall. So! Stinking! Awesome! and obviously, more Disney treats. A basket of fruits and a bottle of wine. Oh and not to mention the balcony. My husband and I have been on a few cruises but never had a room with a balcony. Man the views. I wish I could relive that right now. Thank goodness for photos right? Enjoying the room for me at least was short-lived because about 10 minutes later it was time for an emergency drill. Everyone had to evacuate their rooms and head to their assigned deck for the drill. The drill didn’t last long, the crew members were so helpful and before we knew it we were free.
My family and I visited the Kids Club. There was so much talk about how fun the Kids Club was so naturally, we had to check it out. There were a ton of activities and different rooms. Some rooms had dancing, some coloring, some with a bunch of fun toys. Our girls gravitated to the Toy Story room which was actually my favorite too. A giant slinky dog! A massive T-rex. It was seriously the coolest thing. The girls were left in good hands as Disney takes every precaution to make sure your little ones are taken care of and save. Like their Kids Club bracelets. The bracelets were actually worn during the duration of the trip so if the kids ever got lost or anything happened the bracelet would track them. How could you not love Disney right? So Dayjhan and I went off for some alone time. We had dessert together in a quiet corner, did some shopping for some ears and even checked out the movie playing on the big screens main deck. About an hour later we grabbed the girls and decided to head back to the room for the night. Oddly enough I had got a little seasick for the first time ever so as a family we decided it was bedtime for us. We did need a lot of rest for the next day we would be in the Bahamas with.. dolphins? what? 🙂
To be continued..
