Name something that is sweet and has flour. Sweet Flour Bakery!!!! You are correct! What do you win? Why you win part 2 of our blog with Sweet Flour Bakery.
If you all didn’t catch my last post with Sweet Flour Bakery you can check it out here. But if you’d like a quick run through let me tell you. Sweet Flour Bakery is a licensed home-based bakery business right here in Sacramento CA ran by the one and only Lisa Koob. Lisa runs Sweet Flour all while working part-time, being a mom a wife and a superhuman. After our first time decorating cookies with Lisa, the girls were stoked to go back and see Lisa again. So stoked in fact we actually saw Lisa a few times in between our second session just to grab cookies from her. Yeap, we are sort of addicted to Sweet Flour in the Carr house. So once the day came to head back we were way more excited than the first time because this time we were going to be actually baking the cookies!
The morning came and the girls skipped breakfast just to hurry up and get to Lisa’s. When we arrived and Lisa had all the ingredients ready to teach us how to bake sugar cookies. She let the girls help her pour in all the ingredients into a big bowl and then showed them how she uses her mixer to mix everything together. Once it was done she taught the girls how to get the dough ready and cut cookies with some pretty magical shaped cookie cutters, like unicorns and rainbows. While the cookies baked Lisa was sweet enough to provide the girls with some pre-made cookies to decorate. isn’t she the best? The cookies didn’t take long and after they were done Lisa taught the girls how to create their own colored icing which I actually found super interesting. She then packaged up everything for the girls and let them take home so we could enjoy decorating them with my family and husband. My girls had the best time and it’s a day of baking I hope they’ll always remember.
P.S you’re in luck because I posted Lisa’s version of the sugar cookie recipe below.
This version originally came from Sweet Sugarbelle Blog, who also inspired Lisa to start baking. This recipe was tweaked to the liking of Sweet Flour Bakery.
Lisa gave the girls cookie to paint while we waited for ours to bake. |

2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour.

- First, you get a bowl and pour in all of your ingredients. Once the ingredients are mixed and no longer sticky you roll them out 1/4 an inch thick and add sprinkles of flour to your dough.
