Family fun night with The Venardos Circus.

Hi friends!

When you think of the circus what do you think of? Lions, tigers, and bears? maybe creepy clowns? Well, I know that’s what I typically think of when I hear the word circus. But when I heard there was a circus coming to town with no animals or creepy clowns I thought what kind of circus could this be? Well, why it was the Venardos Circus!

If you and your family enjoyed the greatest showman then you will absolutely love the Venardos Circus. They are a traveling Broadway-style circus that features only a small handful of performers who actually do everything from setting up the entire tent to running the concession stands, face painting, and cleaning. Yes! they literally do everything by themselves. But wait rewind did I say tent? Yes! you read that right the circus takes place in an actual tent, not an arena. Pretty cool right? If you thought that was cool get this some of the performers actually use to be in the famous Ringling Bros show! including the ringing master himself. When I found that out I was super excited that this would be Ivy and Aria’s first time at a real circus. What a great way to introduce little ones to a circus. I was also excited to learn that there were no animals! Because when I thought of wild animals in a tent with wild little ones I wasn’t too keen on the idea. So upon finding out that this circus was all people powered this mama was happy!

The Venardos Circus opening night was last night and I got my family there before they even opened the tent. Can you tell I was excited? My friends Maria and Melissa were both there with their families as well. The girls made their way to the concession stand for some goodies like popcorn, snow cones, lemonade, and delicious cotton candy. They couldn’t sit down without buying a cool light up toy and of course getting some cool artwork on their little faces too. I still can’t get over the fact that all of those things were run by the actual performers. Most circus performs would be somewhere resting backstage but not these guys. They were up working before the show making all of these amazing things possible. Just incredible, simply incredible.

The pre-show started at 6:00 PM and they had fun interactive things for little ones to go on stage and do. Ivy participated in some and had a blast. Once the show started at 7:00 PM with a 15-minute intermission in between and it ran about an hour and a half and it was one of the best hours an a half ever. There were so many different performances such as singing with sparkly costumes, dancing, a mother and son juggling act, acrobatics that included flips in the air on chairs and flipping in the air with a child (one of the best parts of the show by the way), traditional aerial silks with a wild twist. Think of spinning in the air using nothing but your neck! death-defying ballon stunts and more. Including interactive parts of the show where they brought people from the audience up. Ivy was chosen to go up and play a fun musical game, she was shy but she had such a fun time. After the show was over the performancers even went outside to take photos with the fans. Ivy and Aria refused to let us leave before getting a photo done.

This was a night my girls will never forget and I am so glad I was able to share this with them. Thank you to the amazing performers for putting together an unforgetful show. Also, thank you to the inspiring ringmaster for sharing his story with us, it really touched everyone in the audience, I know because of that standing ovation at the end.

The Venardos Circus is currently on a 40-week tour but will be in Sacramento at Vierra Farms until May. 19! If you’re interested in taking your mom for mothers day just a heads up mom gets in free! 🙂
