Our 1st wedding anniversary.

August 17, 2018      Porsha Carr

Hi guys!

It’s been two weeks since my husband and I celebrated our 1 year marriage anniversary. 1 whole year of being married and 11 years of being together. We made it. Through the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations we went through so much together in the first year. I learned so much from being married (read about it here) and this journey has only made me fall more in love with my husband. They say the first year is the honeymoon phase, but every year I am with him feels like a honeymoon to me. And our first anniversary was no exception.

The day started off with me having to run a few errands before my Dayjhan and the girls woke up. I knew it would be a good day when I got in my car and saw Dayjhan had left me a rose. I was really surprised and very happy! So back to my errands, one of  the errands which included me finding something to wear for our trip. I am typically pretty on top of these things so I have no excuses as to why I waited last minute to find an outfit, but I did. I went with a shirt-dress from Khols (buy my shirt-dress here). Once I got home and we got dressed we kissed the kiddos goodbye and we were off. For our anniversary we deiced on Pier 39 in San Francisco. Nothing too far from home or crazy expensive. But still very romantic and simple. There was barely any traffic and we got there in under an hour and a half.
We booked at the wonderful Hotel Zoe (check them out here – this is not sponsored). We arrived and they allowed us to check in an hour early at 2:00 (check-in is at 3:00). Let me just tell you this is literally the best hotel we have ever stayed at. I found Hotel Zoe browsing the internet looking for hotel deals. When I came across it and looked through the reviews and photos I knew this was the one. When we got to the hotel the entire staff was nothing short of amazing. From the valet who joked with me about my crazy key chains. To the front desk attendant who made such good conversation with me as if I’d known him forever, to the cleaning staff. Everyone there was so perfect.

Sweetest note ever, our hotel left for us.

I have never had such exceptional customer service in my life. I have stayed at many hotels over the years traveling. Our room was so clean and the hotel itself was so quiet. Coming from a mom of two kids under 5 this was heaven. We had a fully stocked mini fridge and a bed so soft that it felt like a cloud. They even surprised us and had cake and wine sent up to our room with a sweet note for our anniversary! I would stay at Hotel Zoe a million more times! After settling in our room we unpacked our things and headed into the city.

Our first stop was The San Francisco Dungeon Tour (check it out here). I’ll admit I wasn’t super excited to go here for one reason. My favorite restaurant on Pier 39 was torn down and replaced with this place. So needless to say I was a little mad but I was really interested in this tour. We purchased tickets on Groupon prior to our trip for a really good deal. There were no cameras allowed in the dungeon so you’ll have to take my word when I say it was so much fun.

Basically what the tour is, is a group of people going through different times in history meeting different characters and learning different facts. There’s screaming, laughing, stuff that will poke you and your even left in the dark a few times but oh my gosh it was such a good time. In the end, we got to get on escape Alcatraz drop! a ride that takes you in the air and drops you down. We loved it!

After this, we walked the pier and did some shopping and later my husband treated me to dinner over a fire. The next morning we did a little sightseeing back on the pier had lunch and checked out of our hotel. On the way home, we stopped by the Full House home and took photos!

I’ll never forget our first wedding anniversary and how special it was. I love you Dayjhan.

P.S I already know where I wanna go for next years anniversary trip too 😉
