The Carr family bike ride with Practical Cycle.

Hi guys

when I was around maybe 5 or 6 years old I remember getting on a bike for the first time. I was memorized with it. It was a big kid bike without training wheels. It was pink and purple and really shiny. I had no idea how to ride a bike at the time, but I really wanted too. One afternoon against my mothers will I suck out the side door and took my bike out. I got on the bike and rolled down the driveway… I didn’t stop! Next thing I remember I was surrounded by adults laying on the couch pretty banged up. I took a really bad fall, got some really bad scars but that never stopped my love for riding. I eventually learned how to ride a bike the right way and it was great. Being on a bike is so much fun! you feel alive, wind blowing in your hair you free! my kids aren’t old enough to ride alone yet so I’m so glad we can take them out with Practical Cycle.

Practical Cycle is a cool bike shop located in Folsom, California. Unlike other bike shops Practical cycle believes that bikes are more than just bikes they are transportation. Their mission?  “make cycling more practical for everyday people.” Tim Castleman is the owner and creator of Practical Cycle. Years ago Tim decided to purchase a used bike from a garage sale. Tim’s bike became his means of transportation using it for errands and haul, Tim’s bike was pretty great to him. On one unfortunate day, Tim was an accident involving a valet attendant. With part of his money from that settlement, Tim started Practical Cycle. Fast forward to years later and Tim and his son are thriving in the bike business!

With 1 location opened in Folsom and a second one on the way also in Folsom, Tim is changing the way we think about cycling. Practical Cycle has now been in their eighth year of business and they aren’t slowing down any time soon. The Practical Cycle sells all sorts of bikes such as electric (pedego), cargo, folding and hybrid. Their prices range depending on what you want, but they are very reasonable and don’t hurt your pockets.

You can even rent bikes too! The best part is when renting you don’t have to worry about waiting in line because Practical Cycle does reservations! (click here to make reservations). When you buy or rent from Practical Cycle you also don’t have to worry about things like helmets, locks, or kid trailers because they got you covered. as an entrepreneur I admire Tim.All the hard work he has done to get his business where it is today. I have had the opportunity to speak with Tim on more than one occasion and he is an amazing businessman. He is very professional and has a passion for bikes and what he does for the community.
